How to request access to restricted material:

Some documents have restricted access, and only accessible to readers conducting scholarly research. 

If you have clicked a link in the online version of the book and are presented with a warning asking you to request access, please follow instructions on the messages you are presented with, but to summarise:

1. Sign into a Microsoft or Google account via the ‘Sign in’ button on the top right of the History Book Archive home screen. This is required for authentication purposes before viewing any restricted material. If you have previously signed in via one method and want to change to the other, please clear your web browser cache first. If your work account will not allow you to use your credentials to sign in, please use a personal MS or Google account, which can be set up quickly and for free.
2. Once signed in, click on the ‘Request Access’ link at the top of the History Book Archive home screen.
3. Complete the request form, including the reason for the request. To avoid any delays, please provide as much information on the form as possible.
4. The request will be assessed by SKAO and/or the authors and either approved, rejected or in certain circumstances we may contact you to request further information. 

All correspondence and confirmation will be via email so please check your inbox for confirmation of access being granted before contacting the book archivist. SKAO will endeavour to process any requests as quickly as possible, but confirmation may take several days depending on the document and document owner availability.
